What kind of CAI...short vs. normal

What up,

I was thinking about getting a new intake for my '99 TL. I hear that the AEM's are popular for the sound and looks and the Comptech Ice Box for the exact opposite pretty much....but with the AEM what is the difference between the short ram and the regular CAI or the new V2??? I know the difference is probably not much other than instalation, but I want to get the best one possible....are they all pretty easy to install??? then will be time to replace the system!!!! Thanks for the info

Forget about the Short Ram.. I think I heard you lose power...

The CAI is a 2.5 inch pipe and the V2 is a 5inch pipe.

I have a AEM CAI and I love it...

Ya I was thinking about the AEM CAI because I want that extra sound and look. Was it pretty easy to install? Doesnt it come with a K&N filter??? If so it should be pretty easy to clean, is it easy to remove the filter to clean? thanks all

It was pretty easy to install.... It took me about 30 min to 45 min and it was my first install...
It comes with a filter and I think it made by K&N...
To clean it you need to remove the filter and clean it... You dont have to clean it often.. Maybe every 6 months...

Great, this makes my decision pretty easy. Are there any "power chips" for our car??? I guess the next popular upgrade is headers...but I dont really want to spend a grand now. Any other upgrade other than the CAI that would be worthwhile and not as big of a drain on the wallet???

BTW I have a '99 w/ NAVI that doesnt work if its hot....annoying.

There is no chip at the moment...

You can get OBX or Stone Headers for 300 to 400... They are the same design to the Comptech...

OBX has a resonance at 1-2k and I have had no problems with the Stone headers.... I felt a difference in power with the Stone headers and AEM cai....
