Yea and our taxes will increase with them as well Our govt has no control over the oil prices other than the measly tax they put on it.

one of the many reasons i drive a TL is because i want too save money on gas. so no, i would never sell my car because of the price of gas. im averaging about 350-370 kms on one 50 liter tank, i dunno about you guys but i think thats pretty damn good. filled up yesterday with supreme for $1.37 a liter.

hey meth- wtf are you smokin man
They will raise our salaries? to keep up with rising everything??
Got any openings at your company????
- because most biz are struggling to keep up with rising electricity cost- and insurance-work comp insurance- health coverage, and big box stores driving the small places into the ground with the buying power and govt cooperation

Thanks to the stupid ethanol gas program- corn prices are up big time and causing Mexico to not have tortillas for their own people!- it cost to much to make them- america thinks they can make gas from this stuff- except it takes lots of guess what- fossil fuel to make. doh! scammed again

gas is gas man we all have to pay for it. My 2001 TL is pretty reasonable and I live in jersey (one the of cheapest states for gas). Its 4-23-08 and gas just hit the highest I've ever seen here ($3.60) for premium. I get about 350 miles easily on a full tank maybe push it to 400. Only thing I wouldnt do is get a truck or suv.

Yeah, with the recession slowing creeping in, it is more likely to fight to keep the job than to expect a pay raise.

word! its going to be a while before hybrids are worth their price unless you are an environmentalist or something..

I would NEVER give up my car. No matter what the price of gas was. Think of this this way, you are going to have to buy gas regardless, unless you want to ride a bike everywhere, I really don't want to be driving around in a Prius or Civic Hybrid. Don't get me wrong, those are great cars, but I love my 05 TL.

at almost age 17, its a struggle for me to pay for gas, but no way will i give up my 02 tl. i go to school full time and dont have time for even part time jobs. my solution? I do car washes for people who live on my street on weekends. on a good weekend i make about $70. on average i'll make about $40, which almost covers the $50-$55 i shell out on (right now, not for long) $4.04 premium gas. i find a way to make it through, because i love my baby to much!

I won't give up on my TL either regardless of what gas price cost is. Remember in Europe, they already has this experience with $5 (us)/gallon since 20 years ago. We're just barely started. I know the US economic hurt everyone of us, but trading my TL to get a new car with better MPG is not worth of saving $$$ (at least in my case).
So, what I'm going to do beside keeping the TL?
1: Open a Discover card (The one with 5% off on every gallon I fill) or similar CC with gas saving program.
2: Driving more careful to avoid those stupid tickets.
3: Instead of trading my TL and spending $400/month for a new car (Like 2008 Accord Hybrid ), I took out $400 off my paid check toward the saving. During this time, should my TL need some $$$ for service/repair, I will withdraw it and use it.
The amount in saving will grow up as long as I keep my TL. Sure my TL will loss the value as it's getting older but on the other hand, The "year" of my future new car will gain (ex: 2010 instead of 2008)
This is just my thought to share with all of you.

Also know that for years the oil companies have asked for more refineries to be built and for permits to drill, all DENIED by the EPA. So other countries get our dollars and the feel good solution ethanol (made from corn) just drives up food prices. So here we are: high food AND fuel prices.

I am lucky I need to drive a lot less than I did two years ago, but in 2007 I drove about 12,160 miles. A lot less than in years past. But fuel cost for the car was still about $2200. In Jan. '07 I was paying about $2.67/gal. In Dec. '07 $3.22/gal. But gas continues to increase WAY beyond that now (funny, never any waiting lines, the price just goes up & up).

I have cancelled my plans to buy an '09 TL, which I was really looking forward to. Why have a $35,000 car that has to sit in the garage because you can't afford gas. My long ago paid for '99 TL can do that just as well.

I am now keeping an eye on Honda CR-Z developments, that might be my next car, not sure yet.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CR-Z

But maybe it's really becoming cost effective to convert your TL to electric like this guy did: http://www.bzzzzt.net/

The key are the batteries. But there are batteries coming soon that will solve this, like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eestor

humm $8 bucks worth of electricity or $60 bucks worth of gas, which do you prefer? ....even self power with solar cells (Honda makes them you know) or wind generator http://www.platek.com/wind/verticals.html

And just think, an internal combustion engine (and tranmission) has thousands of parts. An electric motor a hand full. And no exhaust system, no EGR valve or water pump or timing belt or spark plugs or air filter or oil changes or radiator fluid to worry about.

Hey Big Oil man, time to stick that gas nozzle up your greedy a$$ and pull the lever!!! hahahah

The other thing to keep in mind is that most of us (unless we can write off the expence as a business expence) buy gasoline with after-tax dollars. So to buy $3000.00 worth of gasoline you have to "earn" about $5000.00.....gee, over 5 years thats $25,000 you have to earn just to put gas in your car. That's almost the cost of a TL itself!

I'm kicking myself for getting rid of my 94 Integra LS (auto) I sold it with 194k and got $4,000 for it a lil over 2 years ago. The kid that purchased it has 255k on it now with just basic maintence.

I was thinking of picking one up as a DD, but my TL is so much nicer to drive in. Not to mention I just filled up and averaged 27.07 mpg =)

IMHO, it doesn't matter what car you drive, whether it's a TL or a Nissan Titan. Whether you get 30mpg, or 9mpg. People have to drive to work and to get around, and they'll even pay $8/gallon if that's what it comes to. Simple as that. Remember when gas hit $2/gallon 10-15 years ago? People said they wouldn't drive, but look at us now, well over $4/gallon. We are driving just as much as ever. It doesn't matter what car you drive, or what fuel costs become. We will drive no matter what. It's a fact of life.

x2,

a recession is defined as 2 consecutive quarters with a negative GDP. GDP growth for 4Q(2007) was plus 0.6%. 1Q(2008) GDP will be reported on 30 April.

IMO, oil will not go down anytime soon, more likely up. If it does go down, it'll only be a temporary time period. Oil is a finite source of energy. Drilling at a faster rate with new techniques only speeds up the pace of depleting oil. So yes, a temporary fix but delaying the inevitable.

I'll probably get a more fuel efficient car after this TL dies (currently at '03 TL-P 54k miles). Man, I love this car...lol but the maintenance/gas on this car is spending most of my monthly income.

Like many others posting here, I'm glad I have a TL as opposed to the other luxury gas guzzlers out there. The fact that we need premium is a drawback, but so do most of the other lux cars, and at least we get mileage in the mid 20's, which most others don't.

I don't see myself switching any time soon, unless the cost of gas doubles and the mileage of a hybrid doubles at the same time.

Most TL owners are going to be reasonably well-off anyway to even choose a $34k car in the first place, so gas cost shouldn't be a big driver.

You know, as much as people complain about the current cost of gas, I believe that, as a percentage of average income, it is still much lower than it used to be decades ago. I saw a chart on this once - wish I could find it again.

Quick Reply: at what fuel cost will you give up your TL?
