Question What is everybody's tire pressure & why?

The Manual reads 32 psi and the tire wall reads 44 psi. I have stock Michelins. I get better gas mileage on 42 psi than I do at Acura's recommended 32 psi. I know I am compromising ride comfort over efficient gas mileage. What does every one inflate their's to?

I have my 18's at 38psi, how about the rest of you with 18's? Is it safer to have more pressure in the tires cause the wheels wouldn't bend as easy?

I think I asked the dealer once about this. he said something like, don't read the tire for the psi for the stock tires or any tire because that is just the max psi that should ever be in the tire. Inflating to that point would actually mess the tire up and make it wear quicker. Dunno...I guess that would make sense, but what happens if you get after market tires, what psi would you put then??? How would you go about finding out this info....

Cool

For the ultimate grip, I air down to 22 psi front and rear. j/k 36 all around for me.

235/35/19 @ 45psi (max is 50psi) but that's asking for some warped rims

Max pressure on sidewall is for maximum load carrying capability. (measure when tire is cold). The tire will deflect less at the maximum pressure and you will have lower rolling resistance; hence, better mileage. However, it will come at some minor expense of ride quality and handling. The manufacturer ratings are usually based on handling and suspension characteristics. The manufacturer normally works with the tire company for the best combination. However, as shown in the Firestone/Ford debacle, they don't always heed other's advice.

The roads are pretty rough around here. I want the tires to absorb some of the shock so that the shock absorbers and suspenstion components don't have to works so hard. I get very even good wear with my tires.

Aftermarket tires should state the max psi on the sidewall. You should not be at max psi. If max is 44, 32-37 is probably a good range. Don't forget, pressures change with temp also.

In the snow, lowerer settings in the front tires helps grip. Same with drag racing.

For auto-x or good fun highway speeding higher psi is better.

I keep mine at the factory recommended pressure. This is the best compromise between ride comfort, handling, and economy.

32 is what I have been running all my tires at. If you hike the pressure up to 44, you feel every bump like it is a speed bump.

jmo...

38 all around, and make sure you check your tire pressure when it is still cold.

Cool

f=42psi, r=42psi offered the best mileage, 27mpg. Manufacture recommendation of 32 psi yield 21 mpg. At 42psi you 'feel' road bumps but they are really not all that bad. new readers please continue to post.
