Actually, CNN Money reported a while back that, according to Honda executives, the alphanumeric nomenclature means NOTHING.
They're just random. TL, RL, RSX, TSX, MDX - none mean anything.

3.2 in no way can represent 32 valves--unless it's meant for "3.2 times 10" which is idiotic. I'm sorry to offend the poster who said "3.2" meant 32 valves. I won't even discuss how the engine does not have 32 valves, but I don't really see where 32 comes from 3.2 unless it's multiplied by something. 3.2 is OBVIOUSLY 3.2 Liters..............I just find that poster to be stupid. Sorry. Just had to rant.

And there is no "." between 3 and 2. It's just "32v".

I'm confused, then. Where in the manual or on the TL does "32V" appear? There's "3.2" on it, there's "3.2 VTEC" on it.. where is "32V"?
Edit: I know that on V8 cars you'll often find "32V". But what does that have to do with the TL?

evidence? HONDA INSPIRE 32V = equipped with 3.2L engine
HONDA INSPIRE 25V = equipped with 2.5L engine

TL obviously stands for "Touring Luxury"
"32V" is for JDM Honda Inspire badging
penance is 100% wrong (as usual)
yes our car has 24 valves
Titty Licker IS what was going through the heads of the Acura designers and engineers when they should've been focusing on the TRANSMISSION
........which lead to "TL" standing for "Transmission Loser"
BUT, since (THANK GOD) I personally havent had any tranny problems with my S.........
MY TL stands for TRUE LOVE
(and the Type-S stands for SEXY )

They have to have some significance to someone. I mean naming a car is a big deal and a privledge if you are the one whose name gets chosen...so to just randomly assign alphanumeric titles would be a stretch i think...
