What does resetting the ECU do?
I was wondering what resetting the ECU does. I was hoping that the ECU controls the transmission shifting because my transmission is a complete moron when I am in D4. When its in sportshift, its fine becasue I tell it when to shift. Otherwise, it is an idiot. Is this illegal? If not, how could I do it and what would the effects be?
Thanks!

resetting the ECU might help.
disconnect your batter for about 15 minutes to reset the ECU.
when you get back in the car, drive as hard as you normally would. the computer will "learn" for driving style (shift points and such) and will continue to use those settings. If you drive like an old grandmother, that's how the car will try to drive...
I think I kind of explained it ok...
resetting the ECU is also helpful after you add performance parts, I did it and it DEFINITELY helped.

The reason why I want to do this is because for the last two years I drove like a grandmother. My car shifts too soon when I go slow which I dont like because I loose power. I want it to hang on a low gear when I am in traffic instead of being in third at 6 mph or so. Thanks for your help. So this is all I have to do? Nothing else with the fuse or anything liek that?
Thanks again

Yep that sure works. My sister drove my car and asked me why my car drive diffrent than hers? SO, I explained it to her. I reset the ECU and drove the car myself and let her drive my car. Now her car almost feels the same has mine.
PS. WHen you reset the ECU Drive the car hard don't baby it. Drive it in SS mode for a while.
