LoL True.

Although it would be even more so for the Type-S? Don't the trannys fail more because of the additional HP?

Unless your drag racing or auto-xing every day power has little to do with it. The constant shifting in and out of gears is what causes the wear.

A TL-P running with headers, a CAI and a crank pulley can do very low 15's or even better. On a perfect day with everything out of the trunk and 1/4 tank of gas I squeaked in a 14.99. It can be done!

Haha well that was a nice array of answers...seems "premium" is the most legit one. Yeah the power could be better but coming from my '93 Vigor it was an upgrade. I need to get back into something manual though and the 6-speed conversion just seems to expensive.
I'd love a 3rd-gen 6-speed, but as far as a sporty, luxurious sedan that is manual with some good power, early 2000's BMW 540i 6-speeds are looking pretty tempting right now. The 3rd-gen 6-speeds are mostly still out of my price range. Anyone had a 540?

it really comes down to people don't want to deal with the work involved with doing the actual swap.

x2, with normally when they are cheaper they are not in quite perfect condition anymore, quality/niceness never comes cheap

iono i figure crunched could work for both materials
i never saw the extent of the damage... just saw it after repairs were done.. and now he has a 8-9k vette thats paid off.

fiberglass does really crunch it shatters/tears, so the reason for that

but yeah i be looking for more damage around that door, like maybe how does the door itself close and how are the body gaps between the door and body

what pisses me off is how insurance companys salvage a car that is barely damaged like mine i just changed trunk lid and tail light. most insurance auctions are rebuilt/salvage title cars.

Bought mine wrecked for $1800 and $2200 or #2400 after taxes and towing. All it was was a minor fender bender.

thats because the insurance auctions are for cars that the insurance company bought from customers.

TL-PENIS because we got dicked.

I love mine. I like the seats more than the S and don't care for memory settings. Motorwise, I could throw a 3.5 crank in the P block with Higher compression Pistons and show how much of a wuss an S is.

Yeah that's what it really comes down to, I'm not mechanically-inclined enough to tackle a 6-speed conversion myself, and with 174k on my car, the time and money and replacement of other parts just doesn't seem worth it.
I'd rather just sell it to someone who wants a cheap TL and get a 2004 + 6-speed when I can afford it. Or I've started to see a couple of 03 CL-S 6MT's at pretty reasonable prices. That might be the more realistic option, even though I like the TL body style a little better overall.
