What To Do (Headlights)

Ok well it is really not neccessary to fix but i dont like it, i was behind a car today at a stoplight and noticed from the glare from the car that one of my headlights is blue and the other is yellow lookin. The bulbs are 6K btw. I changed the bulbs recently (kinda) because of this, back in November and i still have this problem. I was looking around at the headlights and noticed that one headlight is Honda and one is DEPO. Could that be the reason the color is off?

Nope. The only reason that they would be noticeably off is if they are 2 deiiferent bulbs... Are you sure you didnt see one foglight and one headlight in the reflection?

^^^ yeah im sure cause i turned off the fogs to see if i could tell a difference but i couldnt. I thought it was the bulbs too, but then i changed them back in November in pairs of course, but they are still diff. Maybe the ballast or something?

Then, one was blue and i could tell the other was a bit yellow but i just that maybe it has to be used for a while for them to turn blueish.

well i would personally contact hidextra about that and before you do that i would suggest taking the bulb out itself and examining it to see if there is any problems with it.

also a question, did you use rubber gloves or did you touch the bulb part whatsoever during installation?

so if you swap hardware (ballasts, bulbs ignitors) to the other side, the yellow light goes with the hardware? or does it stay in the certain headlight?

Ballast might be the issue? Are you using your original ballasts still?

i'm thinking it may be the ballast, swap the ballast from one side to the other and see if the yellow follows it.

another possibility...

if the color does not follow the ballast over to the other side...

does the light turn yellow as soon as you turn the lights on? or does it "heat" up and turn yellow? pics? i'm wondering if condensation got inside the headlight and rusted? i dunno could be far fetched.

k, so it's not the housing, swap the ballast/ignitors and report back with your findings.

Getting a used OEM one would be risky bc you never know how much longer it would be good for OR it may have the same issue as yours does. Best/cheapest route would be to get an aftermarket kit. Hidextra is often running discounts for azine members so you might be able to get the kit for less than $60 shipped. Couple months ago i got a 3000k kit from him for $51 shipped

a single oem ballast at the dealership will run you 3-400. that's why i got aftermarket. i got a d2r kit from hidextra, i haven't installed them yet but when it warms up i'll get around to it. shouldn't be too hard, i'll have to solder a few wires but other than that it's plug and pray. my headlights aren't yellow like yours.... my headlight will work just fine when i turn the lights on, and then it'll just randomly turn off.

Ignitor is the part that the bulb plugs into, which then plugs into the ballast. Inverter, also known as the ballast, is the box that's mounted on the underside of the headlight.

are you checking this on acuraoemparts.com and acuraautomotiveparts.com ? that sounds like an estore quote that has no discount, if that's no luck, try shooting wholesalepartsguy a pm, he works at hansel acura and gives azine members 20% off. besides that go ebay, or the other guy is trying to sell you his.
