it was a big box of cassettes

My buddy had a 1979 Saab 99 with a cassette deck, it had the Repo Man Soundtrack stuck in it, that was all we could listen to.

hey, be grateful it was tapes and not 8-track tapes, hahaaa...
BTW, one of the reasons why i like a mp3 player in the car is so you can listen to those songs that youre too ashamed to admit to anyone that you listen to and not have to carry around the actual CD for everyone to see and subsequently laugh at you (turning up Martika - Toy Soldiers )

Well I have a pretty eclectic mix as I love all types of music.

Common - Finding Forever
Various - Ministry of Sound 2007
Brian Wilson - SMiLE
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

I'm a huge Brian Wilson fan if you didn't notice.

Yeah I used to listen to a lot of hip hop, but it has gotten so crappy just over the past few years that I can't stand what they play on the radio. The only rap CDs I have bought the past year or so are both of Common's latest albums. I almost bought Talib Kweli's album as well.

I've been listening to more rock and electronica lately. Also a lot of classic stuff from the 60s and 70s.

Tool's new album isn't bad. I've been listening to Damien Marley alot lately (Welcome to Jamrock). The new Linkin Park CD is CRAP-OL-A.

Was in Puerto Rico last week and the radio stations are still playing Gasolina there - actually saw the artist (can't remember his name) at the resort - he was filming a new video and the place was bumpin!

My 4-year old has been requesting Ray Charles lately.

If you like Talib Kweli, you should check out "The Coup", Talib has done some work with them in the past. He and Boots Riley have similar political ideas.

the fugees-the score...lots of old school classics that sound real bassy and have nice melodies/samples

Talib kweli-Eardrum...this is an album you can put in and just listen to, the kind of album that requires no fast forward button. but it will have you hitting rewind a thousand times so you can understand his mtaphors.

Jay-z -American Gangster...its alright, not the best jay ever, but it does have some nice riding music when night time rolls along

Common- finding forever....Real relaxing hip hop, good for when you have a lady friend in the car, gives you something to talk about.

kanye west-graduation..pretty refreshing sound, kinda techno/hip hop deal. nice for a bright sunny day when you got the windows down and the subs up

and a couple of the "gangsta grillZ" mixtaps

hope this helps

I've reviewed the ipod. Heres the top 4 artists...
Jimi Hendrix-131 tracks
Frank Zappa-144 tracks
Pink Floyd/Roger Waters-145 tracks
Primus/Les Claypool-234 tracks

I have 1827 tracks on the ipod (I don't download, all transfered from CD) 654 of them are from these 4 Artists.

IMO-Pink Floyd died when Rogers left the band, I include his solo stuff under Floyd. Along those lines, Primus doesn't exist with out Claypool, so Primus is just another one of his bands (Sausage, Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains, Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel, and Les Claypools Fancy Band).
