Turn the AC off, close the moon roof and your windows. VSA off, SS mode. When you see the green, floor the car and shift when it hits 7000 RPM. Don't forget to turn up some pumping tunes.

Stay in third for as long as you can!!! Until it redlines, then shift out of 3rd! Thats the best way to get the engine to pour on the torque.

What does the VSA do on a straigfht run to slow you down?
I would think it helps off the line in keeping yours tires from spinning

DO YOU NEED 5TH TO GAIN ANY HIGH END SPEED?

VSA cuts your power by I think around 50%. 4th and 5th are useless in a race. After 3rd, give up.

As a side note, if you floor it our cars are smart enough to shut off the AC temporarily.

And definitely hold 3rd as long as you can. 4th is like swimming against the current....

4th gear isn't that bad. I raced a 98 Mustang GT w/ manual tranny and beat him by about 1/2 car length. I was in 4th by the time we slowed down.

Turn VSA off, put it in SS, and slam on the gas. Let the computer shift the 1-2 shift for you, as it goes to redline anyway. Shift yourself the rest of the way, making sure you go to redline in every gear. Once you get to the 3-4 shift, make sure you hold it till just short of the fuel cutoff. That way, you get a little deeper into 4th gear.
