wow 6.2 huh...thats awesome.....thanks for the post, how did you launch was vsa off or on, did you brake torque or not, did you use ss or auto? thanks again for your time

You should get anywhere from 6.2-7.4 depending on launch, weather, road conditions, etc.
I heard G-Tech's were off by like 1/2 sec, but not sure. I ran 13.7 1/4 in my automatic 540i when it was stock with a G-Tech so I sorta discredited G-Tech's accuracy cuz I know damn well my car can't hit that stock.

g-tech wont always be totally accurate. But it does give agood idea. Id say it'd be more accurate 0-60 than 1/4. Anyways I launched in auto with VSA off. Slight torgue brake. Then launched with about 3/4 throttle to take care of the wheel spin and then floored it. Just let the auto take care of it since you cant use stick on the 1-2 shift. I hope after CAI and RES we will have a sub 6 second 0-60 car. Thats my goal.

Since your dealing with automatics. the Gtech should be fairly close both in the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile. All depends on how much care you take when you set it up.
We found it best with 2 people, 1 in the car, 1 right in front to help make sure it is pointing straight ahead. Can do it with 1 person, you just have to get and down to make the adjustment and check.
When aligned correctly, it always was within .05 of the timelsip posted(Carlsbad drags). Mph was about 2 mph higher on the gtech than the timelsip.
Hard to get an accurate number with a manual car since the up and down motion when shifting throws it off some.
While at the drags it was reading so well, that when the 0-60mph number flashed I knew what about what the 1/4 mile would be on the timeslip!! Its critical to have it level and pointing straight ahead.
Another meter to maybe try is the AP-22. It records 10mph increments, in distance, G's, time,,,, and you can up load to computer the results. But you will need to calibrate it at a dragstrip to get the right settings for your car.

Hey Ming wazup! Just wanted to follow up with you, my buddy got GIAC chip on his S4 with Borla exhaust. He lowered it with Neuspeed springs and Bilstein shocks (springs were my early Xmas gift to him ) and Eibach rear sway bar. His car is sooooooo fooken fast now! OMG! I can't wait for him to dyno. If wheather holds up in January, he and I are going to the track. I'm gonna try with my 19's and try with stock 17's as well.

This was a tip?? or manual S4? Did they get the GIAC x-chip? Good luck at the drags in January, I will probably go once in January or February and that will be the last time. Starting to get into road racing/events. Kinda fun with my big ol boat. Got some lightweight wheels, r compound tires, Stoptechs, sway bar. I like the events since they have instructors to help out. Kinda nice to have someone for the first few laps to help you learn that track.

Needless to say, I won't be messing with him anymore!

The dyno runs for AWD always seem to be different. Boy 6 speed with chip, yep it must fly! They have been running "chip only" times around 13.4-13.6. With chip and exhaust they are in the 13.1-13.3 range.
I wonder about dyno pulls, I have a 4150lb car with me in it and it ran 14.027 @98.49mph, different calculators have all come up with different HP and torque. Have since added exhaust and the new GIAC x-chip but havent been able to hit the strip. Will go in Jan/Feb to see what it will do. This is with an automatic A6.
Make sure your friend observes the cool down cycle for the turbo's, use 0w-30 Mobil one, get the AMS TBB(kevlar wrapped), either a set of Forge BPV's or Bosch710n's and he should not have any problems.
So what has your auto 540 ran at the strip. My god 13.7 is absolutely flying!!! Jato??!! : ) .
Best 0-60mph I ever got was while timing at the drags (had gtech going to) and recorded 5.47sec. Hope to hit 13.6-13.7 in Jan/Feb but even if I dont I need to retire from the 1/4 mile for my cars sake!! LOL.
I wonder if your friend got hte regular 1 bar garrett chip or the newer x-chip which runs around 1.1-1.2 bar. That x-chip is a monster! Plus GIAC has the switch either already available or will be soon, so that you can change up to 4 programs by remote, for example, stock, x-chip, XR-chip, valet modes.

AC, a strange thing is happeneing with the S4 and their track times, they mostly seem to be running larger wheels 18" and 19". Wonder if gearing changes have anything to do with it. Strange.
X-chip is a real fast program.
Let us know how your track day goes, and dont worry even without any mods, the 540 is a real nice car. (99% of drivers would love to have the chance to own one). Great styled car and I think looks best with just a few changes if any. Some of them get carried away. I tend to like the original look of the car. Will be interesting to see the times using both size wheels.
Man if your friend goes with downpipes, he will be approaching high high 12's! I think APR has a downpipe. After that maybe the GIAC XR chip!! lOL. Then i think he will need different injectors and such. Hope he upgrades the brakes with all that engine power. Stoptech makes a good brake for it. Bob or Pete at Stratmosphere.
