Welcome me too the broken Fog lense club!!!

Today I noticed that I had a chip that broke right through the fog light lense, and as a result, there's condensation in the glass. I assume that this will cause the fog light bulb to constantly burn out, due to the moisture from the condensation to burn out the halogen bulb. Spoke to my acura dealer and they want a wopping 460 dollars to replace the housing. Nice try!!

anyways, what are my options? Can I prevent this permanently in the future by replacing the glass with lexon plastic? and if so, is there a DIY I can take a look at so I can perform this myself?

any help is appreciated.

thanks

What i did was get some silicone and dab a lil on top of the hole and whooosh problem solved. but it willl only work if u got a hole i don't no about a big crack but it might. I just dab a lil over the top and now u can't even tell it had a hole it it. Hope this helps

Lexan is the best solution. Its pretty simple actually. I would say the hardest part is cutting the Lexan into shape, everything else is simple. There is a DIY on www.abunchofcars.com check it out.

LEXAN is a hard plastic, and even with a dremel its hard to shape. PM me if you need any assistance with the LEXAN lens.

Well, welcome to the club I guess.

Here's a couple of links that might help you out.

I haven't done this yet, but it seems pretty straight forward.

I heard something interesting last week. An Acura store in Maritime Canada sends broken fog lamps to the local Apple Auto Glass and for $40 each, they replace the lens. I went to my local Apple Auto Glass on Saturday and he said he would do the same for $50, provided he doesn't have to remove/replace the assembly.

Not sure if the replacement lens is Lexan, but the price is right.

Has anyone out there ever removed the fog lamp assembly? If so, what is involved???

Thanks,
