Talking Welcome me please!

First I would like to say hey guys and welcome your new homie. LOL.

I've had my 03 TL-S for a year and a half. Everything on it except the Navi . Problems went from having them to redo the rotors twice, a recall, had some young kid scratch my car with his bike and fled the scene. LOL. (Found his parents ) Had one of my headlights stolen but other than that I lovvvvvvvve my car. Now that you guys know my CAR Bio, I got a question?

I've noticed HEAVY rusting on the brake rotors, is that normal

unfortunately it is normal. I'm going to sand and paint them in the spring. Try to take a little bit of the rust off then spray paint it with a rust proof black paint.

I drive too much. I got like 23000 miles on my car and I brought it brand new . It rained hard one day and the next day I came out they were orange...I was like WTF?? Especially after they allegedlly replaced twice and resurfaced them a different time, I was concerned. I guess there's nothing that can be done.

Welcome aboard...
Here in Florida, mine look pretty bad in the morning, but after driving 6 miles to the office, the oxidation is gone by the time I get there...

are you talking about the rust that shows up on the surface (where the pad meets the metal) or on the outter edge and inner hub ?

any time it rains and the car is sitting there the next day they will have rust on them. That will come off as soon as you drive it. I have new drilled rotors with a zink plating and they also show rust after the rain, once I drive it they are back to normal. I was at the dealer and all the new 04 tl's had nasty looking rust all over the rotors. Also I would not sand and paint you rotors, maybe the calipers if that is what he was talking about! later and welcome, where you from in Jersey?

Will painting the rotors (the whole thing or just the center part) stop the rusting? I would like to get rid of my rusting as well...

you can not paint your rotors only the caliper. the pad will take paint right off of it, also could effect braking and would look very nasty anyway, maybe can have them zink plated to stop rusy but I am not sure~ call a performance brake shop and ask about it.

Welcome!! Any pics of your TL?? Any mods??

Don't paint your rotors, just your calipers. And that rust happens to everybody that is, unless, you have a garage...

Again, welcome and GOOD LUCK!!

Hello, and welcome

In answer to your question yes it is normal after they have had moisture on them for even a short period of time.
