Wax question

So I'm in the middle of painting my engine cover and it's coming out nice. My question is can I wax it to protect the paint and make it shiny-er. And also would the wax be able to withstand the heat from the engine?

I think you'll have a better chance w some clear coat. A few layers of that should do.

How long the wax lasts will depend on the quality/type of wax you use. As stated though, best to clear it a few times before you wax, you may pull color with wax if it is not cleared.
