Wax easier than Zaino in winter?
Do you guys think that using wax in the winter is easier than doing zaino? I want something that will go on fast and come off fast with as little fuss as possible.
The reason why I want that is that I'm going to be doing this at those self wash bays in the freezing cold. I will probably do it once every 1 1/2 months so It should last right? Zaino would have a hard time curing in the cold rite? (of with ZFX, it doesnt matter how cold it is?)
I plan on washing my car after finals and before I leave for 2 weeks in sunny california!
oh yea...any comments on zymol's wax? I read on that wax test that it stands up pretty well...shine isnt that much of an issue..just want to protect the paint...so I can make it nice again in the spring

BurnsLPhiE,
If you can do it every 1 or 1 and 1/2 month, then I agree with Acclude on the S100. It's cheap (about $15) for a tub and it goes on and off easily.
You can also try Meg's #20 (Poly Sealer) for about the same price. May have better durability.
I've noticed that Zaino takes a little longer to dry with the colder weather. ZFX may help a little, but still takes time if the air is cold and damp.
Kevin,
Zaino is marketed as an "enthusiast" product. It is a sealant rather than a "wax". So in general, it will have better durability and may reflect better, but will not have a deep wet look like a wax. It gets up there in price depending on which products you buy. I think the starter set will set you back about $84. But you can get away with a base system for like $30 (Z1, Z2, Z6). The thing is, you so little of the product at a time that it ends up lasting a while. I've used maybe 2 oz of an 8 oz bottle I bought in January.

Any wax will take much longer to cure in winter - the active ingredients need to evaporate and heat is the catalyst (to get all sci on ya).
Best thing to do if you are stuck in a winterwonder land is if you use zaino now, then BEFORE old man winter hits try to apply multiple layers - and just maintain the car with a wash (don't use the soap from the bay sprayer places it eats wax and ploy's for breakfast) and Quick Detailer of choice over the winter months.
If you really are that concerend about it then try and schedule a professional detail in mid Januaray or so , that should carry you into spring.
