Warped rotor symptoms
Hey all,
I was just wondering what warped rotors feel like. I'm seeing posts about how the car shakes when braking at 60+ mph. Is this shaking violent? Like the whole car shudders while braking?
I just recently took my car in to Costa Mesa Acura for a couple warranty issues and I asked the service m'gr to check out the brakes. Recently, I've felt my car shudder while braking about 60 mph. The shudders are not violent, but I can feel them. The shop checked out the brakes and the manager stated that they were perfectly fine. My question here is, did I make a mistake? Should I have asked him to check the rotors specifically?

steering wheel start going left and right when you're under hard braking, it's kind of hard to describe but just find a big flat piece of ground, accelerate to 60, hit the brake as hard as you can. If the steering wheel stays straight when you're braking, you're fine, otherwise, time to get your brakes checked out. It could be warped rotors or worn pads.

i was wondering the same exact thing, on my last day trip the other day i experienced a loud vibration when i was braking at higher speeds...i searched this topic and found out some helpful info but none to convince me that it's definetly happening to me yet. What should i tell the acura dealer? Are all dealers aware of this? In the thread i read when i searched there was no TSB available....has anyone found it yet?

the steering wheel will not be moving enough to lose your grip on it... I would assume it moves probably one inch left and right... and what my experience is when you brake from 80 or so, keep your foot on the brake, slowly stopping, your rotors will get ho and you'll hear the vibration, it's like a deep hum... hope this helps.
