Want to Purchase Type S in New York City
Hi
I live in Queens and Im looking for a Type S no more than 25 miles away from here. Can someone with this experience please help me out. Looking for Algean Blue with Nav....thats it....going to get the spoiler from here. Hiow much you think I will be paying around dealers around here.
Also, if I get the Algean Blue, what type of wood would I get (bowling bowl or natural wood....can i choose). Thanks

The price on these things seems to vary, but it looks like you can get one anywhere from MSRP to between $500 - $1000 off of MSRP. You have to shop around and you'd probably be better off coming up to Westchester County for a better price. You can also try to go to CarsDirect.com or a similar website. One of my co-workers did that, printed it out, and took it to a dealer. They matched the price (which was around $800 - $1000 off MSRP), so he bought from them. As far as the wood, the Aegean Blue comes with the ebony interior, which is the "bowling ball" trim. There's no choice on that. Hope that helps.

If you're willing to travel a little further to NJ, you could get much better deals. I got mine with nav for more than $2000 off MSRP. Unless its not important to you, traveling an extra 20 miles could put a grand back in your pocket.

that's about right...
In NYC you'll get about 1K+ below MSRP w/ a bit of effort, in NJ you can do better, but then have to deal with travel, sales tax/plates/registration/inspection issues.
I got mine from Rallye Acura in LI, got a pretty good deal.
Curry Acura in Westchester matched that same price (in Scarsdale)
DO NOT go to Westchester Acura in Larchmont (Westchester) The dealer I spoke to was a pompous j-ass who acted as if he were doing me a favor by knocking $200 off MSRP.
Paragon in Queens wasn't bad
good luck!

Make a trip to Park Ave Acura in Maywood. They are definitely the most honest Acura dealer in the NY/NJ area.

Hey
What is the process if I buy in NJ. I seem to hear alot of Park Avenue Acura and Im probably gonna go there to get the car. Anyone know of any salesperson there that I could talk to. I want to go there with 6k and tell him Im ready to buy a car so cut the crap and give me a big deal. Dont want to spend more than 32k though. Let me know of the process that is required if I buy from out of state. Thanks

You can also go to Acura of Westchester in Larchmont, talk to Tobi. He knows his stuff and gave me a great deal. Bought 2 Acura's from them and have no complaints.

not totally sure on the whole process on buying out of state. i dont think its a big deal im sure they could get the plates for you and you will have to pay ny tax instead of nj tax because of place of residence other than that i dont think its anything else. i would call Park Ave Acura they are without a doubt the best dealer in the tri state area. take a look at their recent meet.

I would without a doubt go to Park Ave Acura. I live in NY and bought my car out of state. The only main difference was that I had to go to a local service station to get the $10 dollar inspection sticker for my window. You can't get a NYS inspection in NJ obviously. Since it's a new car, any service station in NY will pretty much just fork over the sticker. Most NJ dealers will also register the car in NY for you, but it might take a few days more. I'm not sure if you already have plates, but I needed new ones, which they FedExed to my house.
There was only one part I hated about buying a car in NJ... seeing that if we lived in NJ we'd only be paying 6% in taxes, as opposed to the 8 1/4% that we must pay because we're registering the car in NY (so we must pay the taxes of where we live).
Other than that, it's no biggie. And I would definitely go to Park Ave. A car is a major investment, and it's worth the few extra miles and minutes to get to your dealer if you know they're really going to be taking care of you.
