VSA....is mine functioning properly

So obviously my VSA kicks in almost everytime I accelerate off the line in the rain. I know that most of the time it's normal. However I was coming home once and I was speeding cause I was late. Anyhow, there was a curve in the road where it made a 90 degree turn. Needless to say I was going about 55 km/h thorugh the turn. Anyhow, for some reason the car was sliding as if there was ice on the road, and I almost slid into a parked car.

Shouldn't my VSA stabalize the car and take control of it to complete a turn within the boundaries? if not, what the hell is this thing good for?

any ideas?

if the front is plowing through a turn it doesnt work on that. if you were going around the corner and the back end was sliding out thats when it would work. i believe you have to touch the brakes also (not sure my car doesnt have it)

i beleive all vsa does is point your car in the direction youre steering wheel is at. i usually turn it off when playing around on back roads as vsa will **** things up when you purposely have the tail sliding around a sharp turn

yah I guess so. I think for the future I will just shut the VSA feature off when trying to slide the back end of the vehicle.

See in some of the volkswagen's, the car senses any slipping, and will automatically apply the brakes to the wheel which is sliding, causing the whole care to be stabalized. In theory, you can take a turn at 100 km/h and you should be able to go through it without slipping off the road.

does this sound realistic?

no, it doesnt. your tires will only hold so much, vsa just helps balance it out so youre using youre tires to the full. once you are past that point though, all vsa will do is point you in the direction it thinks youre trying to go. also, braking while cornering = skid

Dude, no offense but you need to read maxx96's link, read some books, take a class...Something...

Your VSA is a safety feature, not an anti-stupid feature. Your logic is like asking your ABS to stop you from 55mph in 20 feet because you realize you snoozed at the wheel and are about to plow a tree...
