VOlume control on steering wheel
if get a cd player can i use the volume control on my steering wheel? I was told that there is no way around it. It only works with the stock cd player..

There really isn't a way around it that is worth paying the money for. You have to take the a wire out of the remote and hook it up to the volume and track buttons which I doubt you could do on our own and to have someone else do it would either be a good buddy or a heavy check. Just don't be lazy and reach to change the volume and song, it's really not worth the expense. Or if it's that important to you just keep the stock cd player.

there is a contraption that gets wired to your steering wheel controls that can "mimic" the remote controls on the new HeadUnit. Basically like programming your garage remote, you point the new HU remote to the "brain" of the new steering wheel controller, and basically program the remote controls to the steering wheel controls through this "brain" that sits in your dash.

PAC makes a steering wheel interface (swi-x) that can be used to restore that function via infrared signals. if you get the right brand, you might be able to hardwire the swi-x to the headunit...install will be cleaner install and use will be much more consistent.
