i'm upgrade my tail lights from the red and orange to the ones like the type-s tail lights clear and red. I bought it off ebay and it came with amber bulbs. To get it installed do i need anything else like a harness kit or something. Should I just take to shop to get it installed let me know? thanx

 

I think the 03 tails should just fit in fine. It should be set up the same as your current tails, just the color of the turn signal is different.

 

BTW it's an 02-03 tail light, not a Type-S tail light.

 

harness kit is needed or you can click in the the current harness - once you start the replacement you will know what you will have to do to click in the current bulbs clips - and you will need to buy a pair of amber bulbs...

The key difference is that second lens that hides the color of your turn signal.. so you will need to use an amber bulb, you can use a clear or a titanium coated bulb

Its not hard at all. All you have to do is pull back the carpet (after removing the cargo net retainer pieces and the plastic load over piece. i would also remove the carpeted floor so that the sides fold back easier and further) in the trunk to gain access to the tail lights (like you would if you had a burnt out bulb) and find the bolts and unbolt and stick in the new one.

hey blaze, I have a 99 tl and im thinking about doing the same thing... were did you get your 02-03 tails? ebay?

Also, were are you getting your amber bulb from?

and about the harness... you have to buy one or you just take ur current one and put it on the 02-03 tails? im confused about this part!

don't need a harness, you can put any 02-03 taillight and it fits perfectly fine. there might be some in the black market you could buy, just gotta look around.

 

the aftermarket ones dont require a harness.
