two transmissions in two months
I've got a 2000 TL and I got my transmission replaced this past November. Well, since then, I've had problems with it and I took it back to the dealership the other day. Turns out that the transmission is going to have to get replaced again. That's two transmissions in two months!!! Does that mean that they put in a re-manufactured transmission as the replacement??
I just talked with a lawyer because I've been to the dealership 3 times in the last three months for the transmission problem. He said that it might be a breach of warranty. I was just wondering if anybody else has taken legal action for their cars.
In addition, is there any recall on brake rotors? How long are they supposed to last?? Mine lasted about 38 K.

Sounds like an install problem on the dealer's end if you are losing one in two months...There are plenty of people taking legal action, but then again, they have newer cars and newer problems rather than 4 years into a car developing problems...
Rotors are wear and tear for sure, and though 38k miles is a little low, I fried mine in the same amount of time and I drive them pretty hard...

Before the replacement, my car would occasionally stutter going from 1st through 3rd gear. My whole car would shake when this happened, which made me think that it could be a belt, but since it only happened occasionally, I figured that I needed a tranny flush. I got the flush, but the problems persisted. In addition to that, when my gears shifted, I would hear this really low and loud scratching sound. It sounded like metal rubbing up against each other. Once again, this only happened occasionally as well. I first went to the dealer with these problems, and they said that they couldn't find anything wrong with it, making me look like I was crazy. I went back a week after because my car started to act up and this time, I went on the test-drive with the technician. He heard and felt the problems and they checked it out and ordered a new transmission.
