tweeters, tint (CA), price, springs
I have a few questions before I purchase a tl-s in december.
1. Has anyone installed the tweeter pods from a cl-s? If so, how much were the pods and did you have any problems with the installation?
2. What are the tint laws in CA? I saw a local article (written by a cop) and he mentioned it was illegal to tint the fronts period.
3. What is a fair price for a tl-s (non-nav) in the bay area? From previous threads, 29500? Also, do you think that the "tax free holiday" will pass? That would save about ~2500 in taxes!
4. What are the camber specs for those who dropped their cars with H&R sports? Anyone have koni's + H&R? How was the ride?
thanks.

Sup fack,
here is a link to the actual tint law in Cali..
http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Law_Chart/S...aw%20Chart.htm
I believe it is anything on the rear and back, but only 70% up front. Alot of members have done 35% all around, including me.
As long as you don't give the cops another reason to stop you, your tint should be fine as long as it isn't limo dark.
I think $29500 is a fair price in the Bay Area, what dealers were you looking into?
Don't know about the tweets or the HR Sports.. but there are plent of folks who will..

1) nop, i have heard couple of people buying aftermarket tweeters but i have never heard about people getting those from CLS. that would be some cool idea though.
2) just like what stated. you can tint whatever you want to the rear and the back sides, up to 70% on the front sides.
3) that's something i have been wondering too. if that tax free holiday is really passed, it would also be applied on cars? that would be awesome man, that's a lot of money! anyway, 29500 in bay area is just about right. i got my car at that price.
4) no idea about this one though.

thanks for the info.
I haven't gone to any of the dealerships yet... thinking about test driving one this friday at sunnyvale acura since it's close to home. I'm going to try to keep track of the inventory in the bay in case the tax holiday does pass, so I can snatch a tl-s for less than 30k (including dest.). That extra ~2500 could be spent on the suspension, sound system, ...
As for the tweeters, I plan on getting just the pods and installing a component set up front.

fack,
i am buying a TL Type S this weekend from Serramonte Acura for 31.5k w/ navi wheel locks and mud guards. I had been quoted 29.7k for the non navi Type S. I had done some research on dealers in the Bay Area. A guy named Rob (Pleasanton Acura) and Chris (Serramonte Acura) seemed to give me the best deals. I did haggle alittle but it think if i really tried they would have gone down about $200 more.

1) The CL-S tweeter's bracket won't fit our TLs...the shapes not even close...the high end components includes bracket holders that will make them look really nice...
2) tinting is not allowed at all in the front. I have my front's lightly tinted..and everytime I see a police car I just lower my windows to so respect (daytime)
3) a little over MSRP... considering that the revise is due in Mar/Apr 02
4) don't know.

Hey guys,
We can setup a meet for sometime in January when the Holidays are over, that way more people can be able to make it.
I was thinking the 19th or 26th of January. Let me know what is good. We'll get the CL guys in on it as well.

I'm not so sure about a tax holiday. The state is already projecting a deficit and is also considering a registration tax increase.
If you are not in a rush, you might as well wait it out.

Tint Question
Just to clarify....No Tint is legal on the front drive/pas. windows. The only exception is if you have a doctor's note for being sensitive to sunlight etc. In that case its legal to goto 70% tint on the front.
BTW-Any % is legal in the back, limo tends to be a little hard to see out of at night, looks cool though in the daytime!
