Its been done on a CL-S before, it was a custom job. Turbo kit plans are in the works by Hope Systems ... If you want more details do a search over on acura-cl.com on turbos

1 CL did it...after 6months and $8000. Unless you wanna take the same route, i'd recomend you either wait or be satisfied with what you have.
peace.

Plus, scalbert has also noted that a turbo kit would yeild more power and boost from a non S model due to lower compression.

I have also heard this, but that our compression ratio would still have to be slightly reduced to help reduce likelihood of detonation, along with a long list of other mods, i.e. stronger rods, pistons, an intercooler, new gaskets, etc. I like the idea of turbocharging my car due to the large potential gains in hp, but worry about daily drivability, something I'm not willing to sacrifice.

I think a good, experienced shop could fabricate a turbo for nearly any car, I've seen it done numerous times. One such shop is called Car Boys, located somewhere in Texas. I'm not sure where off hand, would have to look it up, sorry I'm feeling lazy right now. I'm also sure that there are atleast a handful of shops in SoCal that are competent enough for such an application, just be willing to shell out a good deal of cash (well into the four figures--$5000+).

I don't think allmotor's turbo was 8k but closer to 5k. He did the install himself (as well as almost everything but the machining of the headers) so that saved some money.

There aren't any plans currently for a turbo on the automatics so you might have to wait for a while. Space is an issue and then there is the infamous tranny. You can do the turbo on your own using the same parts as allmotor but would need to find someone to machine some headers for you.

the compression ratio is not what causes the detonation. it's the timing that does. just an fyi!

What about the Comptech supercharger? That accomplishes the same thing as a turbocharger (forced induction)...

no it doesnt...the supercharges is constantly pumping and the turbo pumps madly from a certian point. Yes, its the same princible, but not the same gains.

Im sure the turbo will surpass by 2x if not 3x the 40hp given by the comptech S/C, specially with our engine size!
