trying to hook up subs....(yes ive searched a lot)

The other day I removed my old bass tube that came with my car when i bought it. It was a 12" audiobahn tube with a built in amp. I wanted to hook up my 2 Alpine 12's and my mono alpine amp. I knew that the existing power wire would not work for my new setup. I ran a new power wire from my battery and everything on that part works fine. I used the existing power wire and ground, since it doesnt matter what size those are. My setup uses the factory head unit and a line output coverter that goes to the 2 rear speakers. When I turn on the head unit to play my music I either get nothing at all, or just straight bass, and the bass never stops. I get nothing when the line output converter is down low, and the higher you turn it up the higher the bass gets. But its just straight bass, its not bass to the music. I messed with the gain and everything on my amp and i still only get BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM or ............ (nothing).

Any ideas?

the ground does matter, its like a bottle neck in ur system if thats too small, so u best upgrade that and see, but if thats not it maybe ur amp is toast

Hmm, I always thought a ground was a ground. thanks, ill try that.

Since i cannot edit the post above, I meant to say i used the existing remote wire and ground, not power and ground.

But even if my ground was to weak, then I should be getting at least a little bit of sound, right? I shouldnt just be getting NOTHING or EVERYTHING.

Ground is EVERY bit as important as the power.

size does matter when it comes to electricity........you have to a good flow if your wire is to big/small you have a problem.......you have to have the right amount of resistance.........and was it working fine before you switched out your stuff you may disconnected that was needed.........
