Smile Trunk Lid Spoiler LED Lights

Hi Guys,

I have a 2000 TL with what looks to be an OEM spoiler on the trunk.

It has an embedded line of red led lights that I believe should be coming on when I press down the brake pedal, as do the normal brake lights and the high back brake light.

The spoiler Led lights do not come on, with or without the lights turned on, when the brake pedal is pushed.

I have the owner's manual and the service manual for this year TL, but neither refers to the spoiler, much less the led's on the spoiler.

Cannot find a fuse they tie in to.

I don't believe all the leds would burn out at once. So my best guess is a fuse out or a short in the wiring. But, it is just a guess.

Question:
Can anyone offer advice on how to get my spoiler led's running?

Also one of my standard brake light bulbs burned out. Where to find best price on these?

Thanks to all

open your trunk and make sure that the spoiler lighgt connector is connected. It should look like a white harness that gets plugged in line with your brake lights.

The simplest answer usually is the best.

I pulled the trunk lid cover off and traced the wires through the lid. Turns out that the ground wire had been unplugged right at the led strip [had to remove the led strip to see it].

Plugged it in, traced the wire to the other end, also unplugged. Removed one of the two high brake lights and plugged in the led strip and it worked!

Now I had three bulbs but only two plugs, so I cut the plug off the led strip and wired it into the plug of one of the two high brake lights. All works well.

Thanks for the help!
