Is it true to avoid using the SS during the break in period?
My salesperson told me that it would be a better break in for the car if the SS was used minimally or not at all. He said something like the auto-trans. works better or something like that when not using SS. He also mentioned that ppl using SS usually revs the car to a high rpm before changing gears so he said that was a primary reason for not using SS. Is this true? I've used the SS half the time and i do notice even though i shift up, the car responds to the change about 2 secs later, cuzing the car to change from 2nd to 3rd gear at about 2750 RPm a lot. When i try to change the gears sooner, it still doesn't really respond til the car is at least 2500 RPm. The fact also is that i'm hardly really steppin on the gas too hard, cuz most times, ppl past me on the other lanes.

Which is more harmful to the tranny?? Kick-down or holding a gear?? I used SS during break-in period, and no problem also. I found that SS to be useful during break-in period. Instead of cruising at low rpm(dragging the tranny)during city driving, I hold gear(s) with SS so that I can vary different rpm range/load at will.
P.S. I didn't use SS to down-shift though, only up shifts.

Uh, who would you believe? A salesman who might have been selling PC's at Circuit City a day ago, or the engineers who designed your car? There is no reference to this anywhere "avoid using SS" in the manual, and SS reduces slippage between shifts, which reduces wear.
