Transmission Warranty for Canadian TL Owners

I have a 2002 TL and have not recieved a letter about the transmission extension warrantys. I just read in the Toronto Star, that Honda Canada is extending warrantys on "affected" vehicles for transmissions to 7 years or 160000 kilometers, which ever comes first. Now the article was talking about a 2001 Accord V6, but I assume this also extends to TLs.

This is the first thing I have read in Canada. Anyone else here read anything regarding Canadian vehicles.

Nope .. I'm still waiting.

I might fire a letter to Acura Canada if I don't hear anything by March... I just crossed 49K kms and I its only 1yr 2 months old, so I want to know if I should get an ext. warranty... (my main concern is the tranny).

Nothing. It's good that the Toronto Star has something on it though. I tried emailing my dealer on the issue but they didn't reply.

Just call Acura Canada, give them your VIN number and they will tell you if your car is covered.
I called about my 2K TL and it's covered. They told me that I should get the letter by the end of the year.

Folks,

Same here. No notice at all from Acura Canada. I'm used to being ignored and treaty like second rate citizen from Acura Canada. It's as if this company doesn't exists until you have a problem with one of their cars, then they continue to ignore you. Second rate.....

GOT IT DEC 2

To the Canadians,

I finally got my transmission warranty extension this AM. I am so happy to get the notice (as ironic as that may sound). Well, I'm officially covered. Hope those who were as anxious as I was to receive the notice finally get their peace of mind.

Cheers.

FYI, I now have a letter from Acura Canada that confirms the warranty of 7 years and 160,000 kilometer warranty on the transmission and torque converter. This is in reply to a letter to them regarding my 2 transmission replacements for which I will post in this forum.

Canadians always get the shorter end vs. Americans for some reason, but since Derrick received his, I'm sure the rest of you will to. As for me, I got it almost a month ago, but you can actually go to Acura Owner's Homelink on the web to check and see if your vehicle is covered. The stuff on the web and the letter is exactly the same.

I received my letter yesterday... I have a 2000 TL. It says it covers TL's from 2000 to 2003. It looks like everyone will be getting the letter pretty soon.

Got mine last Wed. Now I can't decide if I want to buy the ext. warranty or no... is it worth it... Last time I was at the dealer they said CAD$1700 + Tax for the 6yr 160K kms. Now that the tranny is covered I'm gonna see if they negotiate any next time I go for an oil change.

Why would you get the extended warranty. This car does not seem to have any other major problems, just the transmission. You are getting the transmission warranty for an extra year or 160,000 kilometers, whatever comes first. Now many of the TL components is similar to the V6 Accords and my 1998 with 180,000 kilometers has been flawless . It seems like a waste of cash as you also have powertrain to 100,000 miles.
