Transmission Problems

Hey everyone, i didn't know where to ask so i asked here. Many people dont look at the mdx forum. I have 2001 acura mdx, and i fuc*ed up the transmission again. SECOND TIME. I shifted while the car was moving into drive. Anyone have any ideas on what i can say to the dealership so it will be covered by warranty again.
Thanks

What do you mean? You shifted the car into another gear while in drive? which gear did you shift into? I really don't know how you could have destroyed the transmission by doing that because the computer will rev-limit the car if you downshift while going to fast.

if the computer records thing like that, then you are pretty much f*cked. How the hell can you make the same mistake twice. Seriously man, you need to learn and pay attention more.

plus how high could the rpms have been? doing that once would no way destroy the transmission....it might grind down some teeth, but even if you were redlining it should't kill it.

tranny jolt

If you had a manual tran, high-revved the engine & popped the clutch, you'd burn rubber. Do that every day & you'd probably wear out the clutch, first., followed by the rest of the power train.

With the Acura 5 speed, you've got the torque converter pacifying the initial shock, followed by the low gear clutch pack trying to digest the torque spike. That multi-disc clutch pack is inside the tranny, bathed in oil.

rhs

If you didn't burn rubber, then there wasn't much of a torque load into the power train.

Feel better?
