Transmission problem effects on value?

Transmission problem effects on value?
In looking for a new car, I'm suprised the transmission problem hasn't seemed to damage used values too much on the TL. An '02 TL-S non nav is going for around $16k with about 70K on the odometer from what I'm seeing...wheras a 2002 Infiniti I35 Sport with the same mileage is going for about $14,500 (similar power, no transmission issue). Is it easy to find out if a car has had a transmission replacement or had the oil jet kit installed? If I buy a TL I'd ideally like to reduce my chances of buying a time bomb.

The oil jet can be seen by a visual inspection of the top of the tranny - unless you have a newer design (like mine) that has the jet inside the tranny.
You'd still have 30k on the transmission warranty with that car.

i have the internal jet, so you wouldn't know by looking at it, but i will say that i honestly don't think that many people outside the acura world know about the issue. i wouldn't worry about the value if i was you. i have 73k and the NADA value is still $21k on retail. if nothing else i can always trade it in for a used maxima......
just kidding. i would never leave you guys i'm in it for the long haul. tranny problems or no tranny problems.
