transmission fluid check

Only a month after I purchased the car, I checked the transmission fluid with the engine running. What? The fluid barely touches the stick. So I took it to the dealer and they told me something that surprised me. The fluid should be checked with the engine not running. They told me that this car is not like 70's or 80's chevys. I always thought that the transmission fluid should be checked when the engine was running. Please someone confirm what the deal said because I couldn't believe it. Thanks.

Oh yee of little faith- did you have a GM car before your Acura? The proper way to check the trans fluid is to have the car on a level area and the engine off. Check your owner's manual- I believe it tells you in there! :

Answered this before - quite recently.
See your owner's manual, p. 234. It says what Wayne says.
