Anyone know where i can buy a used or rebuilt transmission for cheap, or even the rebuild kit for my 99 tl. My transmission is acting the fool, car doesnt reverse.. only makes a loud grinding noise when i put it in reverse.

a cheap transmission will make matter re-occur. They always re-occur in the 2G TL. I feel sorry for majority of the owners. IMO get rid of the car

H&A Transmissions supplies remanufactured transmissions to Honda, their website is www.hnatrans.com. Their prices are fairly reasonable, under $2000 for a unit I believe.
Phoenix Remanufactured Transmissions should also have a unit available, they usually charge under $1100 for a remanufactured unit for Honda V6s.
Good luck.

getting it rebuilt will run you about $3000.00. That's what I paid at Aamco, tranny's been flawless for 18months and over 25k miles so far I am very happy, but $3k is a ton of cash.

if you come to san jose, theres a lot of cheap transmission shops down here that do a good job on rebuilding the transmissions. i was quoted only 1600 but went the 6speed route. =)

yeah a 5 speed auto from the j/y is RISKY! I did that on last july, so yeah later, leaks from multiple connections, 4th gear slips when i downshift. 1 and 2 arnt as smooth when i got them, is holding on (thank god!) and it occasionally pops in reverse, but it got better sincce ive bought the car. I payed $1300 with work, guy claimed it was from a 03 with an 05+ rebuilt, is there anyway to tell them apart?

Is there any difference between the 99 model transmissions and the 2000/2001? seeing as to how there was a tranny recall on them. Would the 2000 or 2001 tranmission be able to fit in my 99 without any problems?

I think you need to change out harnesses, sensors, the shiftgate, ECU and maybe mounts. If your really worried and plan to keep the car until the wheels fall off, I plan to get Ammco to rebuild it and get their lifetime warranty. Its an extra thousand but you will never ever have to worry about the transmission again.
I believe Sodaluvr's H&A tansmission shop also offers a lifetime warranty at a similar price to ammco's but PM him and ask if your going that route since im not sure. I know ammco's rebuild is about 3k with a 1k lifetime warranty. H&A maybe about 2k with a 1k lifetime warranty.
