Tranny Slip and Now this problem
I'm driving down the HWY at about 60 and needed to merge into another lane so I gave it some gas to accelerate and slid into the lane. I needed to get up to about 80 to get ahead of the guy to get into the lane I needed...Well doesnt the Freak'n tranny slip and the car rev's way up, I had to ease up on the gas to let the damn car catch the gear.
Other than being pissed that the tranny slipped as bad as it did I didnt think too much of it but now I hear this damn noise all the time. Maybe someone could take a guess at what it might be and what the $$$ damage might be to fix it.
-The noise only happens when the car is moving and only under acceleration, not when its coasting.
-It seems to happen at certain RPM's only, it could be my imagination but it seems to occur at about 2000 or so all the time
-The sound is hard to describe but... here goes,, it sounds alittle like air being sucked in but its not ..it sounds more metallic,it almost sounds like a loose heat shield but its not
-It doesnt happen when I rev the car in park or neutral!
I dont seem to have lost any power
Thanks guys

toast.....but just in case u were interested to know what it might be exactly, it could be a solenoid from the tranny that your hearing thats damaged. you probably hear it every time the tranny changes gears (not when coasting or idling). happened to my civic a few years back. just my $.02 assumption

Thanks guys, I was thinking it was the tranny but I'm not sure...
The sound doesnt happen when it changes gears, it seems like it happens when the torgue converter is doing its thing when I accelerate! Always at 2000 rpm.
The sound is similar to the sound a power steering pump makes when its getting old or failing (like I had in my Prelude).
The car needs a timimg belt and water pump, guess I'll need to find the time to get it in and checked out!
I need to go on a 400 mile drive, I hope it'll be ok.
Cheers

Trans is definitely toast.... Just be careful driving it, I would hope that it doesn't do what mine did... and that was lock up doing 75mph on a major highway in traffic. Not fun at all........
