Tranny Question

I have a 2003 type s and when im driving. Like when im lowering my speed w/out hitting the brakes i can feel a jump in the car when it switches gears. ANd also when im accelerating most of the time it goes smoothly but sometimes when the tranny is shifting the car jumps. Is this normal or is this sign of the tranny soon to die. Please Help

You may be suffering from (unfortunate) tranny paranoia. The first signs of tranny failure are that the car "sticks" in a lower gear when accelerating. From there, it may go back to normal, but once this happens, you are farked.

There is also a tendancy for the car to downshift to 2nd gear on its own. This is the more serious variation, however it is fortunatly less comon. If it happens on the highway (as it has happened to at least 2 members), you could be in for a tense moment! :wow:

If the tranny were properly constructed, or if the problem was resolved in a timely fashion with a recall of some sort, there would be no tranny paranoia.

The paranoia is Acura's fault, not members who discuss it.
