Tranny Failure...good experience with Acura of Peabody, MA
I purchased my 02 TL in September with 100,0xx on it from a local used car dealer for approx $11,000. The car ran great until about 2 weeks ago when suddenly the tranny failed on me. I've had clutches go on me and you know thats coming but this transmission went out of no where! The night before I had put 50-60 miles on the car and had noticed no problems whatsoever!
Well, the tranny failed with 107,xxx. The car would not shift into second and would slip heavily immediately with no previous signs. Approximately a month ago I had the same dealership check the tranny and they took the car for a day and told me they could not find anything wrong and that it seemed fine. As soon as my tranny died I called my service rep from the tranny check immedialtely and told him what happened. I had the car towed to Acura of Peabody, after about 30 min they told me that my tranny infact did need to replaced, as soon as they made that decision, they told me they were going to goodwill it and provide me with a free loaner. I got an 06 TL for the week which was beautiful and they also goodwilled my front motor mount.
I just wanted to share with you guys my personal success story with my local Acura dealership if any of you guys are undergoing the same problems. The service rep told me that they most likely would have goodwilled the tranny even if the car had over the 109,000 covered by the extended warranty settlement discussed on this site.
