Tranny cooler and bumper cover

I plan on ordering and installing a Comptec Transmission Cooler some time in the next few months. For those of you that have done this yourselves, does the bumper cover REALLY have to come off?? I had a very arduous confrontation with my dealer about getting the cover repainted (paint too thin) and then again to get it repainted correctly just a couple months ago. So I'm rather apprehensive about removing it and causing damage to it after they finally did a good job on it.

Then again, I could just wad up a tarp or old draperies and put them under the front of the car.

I also read on line of a B&M that someone put in without removing the bumper, not even the battery. He just had to buy a LOT more 3/8" hose than what B&M gave him.

It is a B&M unit. You can save a few dollars by ordering it through Summit Racing. I forget which unit it is. I can look it up later or email Comptech and they will tell you.

Here's a link on the how to:

Yeah the bumper cover will come off. Just be real careful. I layed my bumper on the grass so no biggie. It will make life heck of a lot easier when you try to tie it to the condenser and when you route the hose through the bumper area. And yeah you have to get proabbly another 7 feet of hose just to be in the safe side.

Couldn't wait any longer. I got home from work and finished the job. Only took a little less than a quart extra of ATF. The hose with the kit was just short of useless. It was long enough for one run but to small I.D. for the tranny end tubes.

I did almost have a vision while I was under the hood. Another hose had some lettering on it that I could only make out parts of. I saw the letters "INSP" but not he rest. I thought "INSPIRE"??? Saw the rest only to be let down......."INSP-ECTION...." damn.....
