Trade 2000 TL for 2001 Integra?
My 2000 TL is Naples Gold Metallic. It needs new tires, front bumper painted, b pillars worn, and steering alignment worked on. It does have the Timing belt service done. The maintenence light has come on recently and the car is due for an oil change. It has 117,000 miles. The Integra is a 2001 in Nighthawk Black Pearl. It has all service performed (including timing belt), is a 1 owner vehicle, which was bought and serviced from the local Acura dealership (that I am purchasing it from). It has new tires and an aftermarket CD player and leather seats. It has 106,000 Miles. They want my car and 1500 additional including fees. What do you think?

I don't plan on modding, and gas mileage (rising prices) is important to me although the TL does get decent mileage. I'm not ruling out keeping the TL and I know it's my choice I just want to see some different viewpoints on it.

seein how the blue book on these is about even.. i wouldnt be paying anybody any money for the integra. if anything an even swap.
and the longevity is up to the owner and maintenance done for the most part.. they both seem to have another 100k in both of them easily if taken care of.

If your trans is ok then keep the TL. I wouldnt downgrade AND have to pay $1,500 for a teg. I've owned two Integras (GSRs) and now have a 02 Type S. No comparison. TL ftw

I'm a thrill seeker in my
I think trading for any kind of integra is a downgrade from the TL. I guess if you had an 02-03 Type-S it would be way more of a difference, but even a Type R Integra is nothing special considering how plain and low class the interior is. I like the fact that I have a luxury sedan that pulls well if I need.

very correct... but out of the 3000 integra's i've seen in my life.. i've probably seen 5 autentic ITR's... the cars street value is much higher than a TL or a TL-S for that matter... nobody wants an integra.. anyone would take an ITR
and whoever said that cars interior is crappy.. never sat in one
its just one of those cars that will always be considered an awesome old school import
now regular integras....
keep the TL man.. its a very nice car and reliable aside from the tranny

i would keep the tl for the most part unless there are major issues with it.
tl's are classier, bigger, and more practical in every way. integras are more for kids who think they're cool. not my cup of tea on any give day of the week.

If it's a GS-R and you can tell it hasn't been abused, I would take it. Highest trim level outside the collectors' Type-R. It will outlast the TL, especially the tranny. Its really all about how you want to use it and what you want out of the car. It will definitely get better fuel economy. As for the TL being "classier"...that's arguable. In it's day obviously it was, but it's a 10 year old mid-level luxury car. As for your reliability/longevity...treated in the same manner an Integra of any trim-level will beat the TL, simply less problems and a track history to back it up.
Sorry guys, this is not a pride issue for me. I won't get rid of my TL, period, but I'd love to own a GS-R.
Edit: If it's a 4-door GS-R...thats rare. Just giving out some info in case you were wondering.
Sidenote: ITR's albeit fun and cool, are not something amazing right out of the box. It's a collector's toy, always has been.

One word: Theft. I had a 1994 Integra GS-R 4 door since 1996, and I also have 1999 TL bought from new. The GS-R got stolen in LA 4 years ago when I visited there, the two days it wasn't garaged. From the internet I found the GS-R with my VIN is still rolling around in LA area. Probably they use my VIN on another stolen GS-R, because when they found it, it's completely striped, I had to donate it (with a clean VIN).
The TL will understeer more, but be more comfortable, less noisy, safer with HID, etc. The Integra will be more fun. I replaced the clutch on the Integra @85K miles, and it was still good @ 234K miles when the scumbag(s) stole it. I didn't know what I had until I lost it.
The TL got its tranny replaced under goodwill. It has typical issues discussed on this forum (mine needs ignition switch recall, need aftermarket rotors due to vibration), and that's it. The TL is very sensitive to tire balance and alignment. Align it per spec, it still drives like new @ 135K miles, even with a cracked left motor mount.
My Teg was cleanly modified, not riced out. Eibach, Bilsteins, Infinity speakers, CD Changers, etc. TL is completely stock.
Actually, from this forum, I also learnt that TL is a theft target too lately, due to its age. I am thinking of exiting the scene, or maybe replace it with 4G TL with MT.

Just a heads up, I decided to keep the TL. Thanks for your opinions they were very helpful. I got new Bridgestone Potenzas and alignment and the ride is just perfect. The Teg was only a GS, and the gas mileage increase wasn't that great and my tranny was replaced about 10,000 miles ago in the TL. Plus they wanted 1500 for the trade which was not fair IMO. Thanks again, I hope my TL lasts a long time.
