Thumbs up Track times with Comptech header

I left the timeslips at home like a goof... but if you recall I went to the track last Wednesday and ran a best of 15.96. Yesterday, post-header, my times improved by .4 seconds and it gained me 2.5MPH on the top end! My best run was a 15.52 @ 90.67... definitely an improvement you can feel! Now I gotta work on those 60' times.. my best was a 2.411. Maybe I'll lower the tire pressure a bit next time.

I went with syncivic who brought a stock CL-S along for comparison and it ran 15.7 if I recall correctly. I outweigh him by about 125 pounds, but he did have a bit more gas than I did.

At any rate I'm very pleased with the results... and my car is living proof that the Comptech header works.

Shouldn't our TL's with header run low 15's to high 14's? or did you run in extreme heat? did you brake torque? How did you launch? You can definitely improve the 60' time!

I guess the test drive in my car at the meet convinced you to invest

Good luck with the headers!

Yeah thats weird, i ran 15.6 at 89.9MPH with intake and pulleys, and mines a 99, i also ran with the TCS ON. Is it true that times are faster with the TCS OFF?

It was about 72 out. I don't know if it's humidity, temperature, barometric pressure or what... but everything seems 2 or 3 tenths "off" here [witness the stock CL-S I mentioned running 15.7]. At any rate, I did not brake torque -- just hammered the gas. TCS was ON as my previous testing revealed that it just shreds the tires with it off (this is before the header) and resulted in 2.8 60' times. I used SportShift to hold 2nd gear until just before the limiter... doing so always nets me a quicker ET and better MPH.

I'm not too concerned with my times as the MPH is pretty good, so the time can be improved with a better 60'. I'm gonna play with tire pressures next time. I don't doubt that the 400 treadwear Michelin's are working against us here... the first 60 feet are the most important! I might have my [much lighter] friend make a few passes next time as well as my times seem comparatively slow, yet represent a marked improvement over my last [pre-header] visit to the track.

And yes, Dhiren, the ride in your car sealed the deal for me on the header.
