My times this go araound were very respectable when you take the following into account:

1. 80+ degrees (out in the open, but in the waiting lanes it was much hotter because all of the cars running)
2. 90%+ humidity (it was raining around the area)
3. You sit for 15 minutes at idle / hood closed waiting for your turn to run so your Intake & CAI are as hot as the engine (during normal driving they are cooler - especially the CAI). The line was too irratic to close the hood for long or turn the car off.

Here's my best time (bounced a bit off fuel cut off in 1st while gate shifting)

R/T 1.113 (must have been taking a nap, my best was a .672)
60' 2.297
330' 6.395
1/8 9.658 @ 75.17 MPH
1000 12.496
1/4 14.890 @ 94.52

Here's my best time (WITH A PASSENGER!)

R/T .892
60' 2.312
330' 6.479
1/8 9.797 @ 73.97 MPH
1000 12.683
1/4 15.118 @ 92.99

There were two RSX-S's out there with intakes and the best they could do was 15.2. At the time I told them I got a 15.1 with a passenger, I didn't know that I had beaten them both with that time. One of the guys just shook his head and put his face in his hands. (sorry )

If I hadn't bounced off the fuel cut off, I might have squeaked another tenth or so.

I'm quite pleased overall.

Woo hoo!!! Very nice times!
Did you take out your spare and run with less than a 1/4 of a tank?
I found a place here in Jax that sells 99 octane gas for like $5 a gallon...I'm thinking of getting some this weekend...

I'm coming to O-town in the latter part of June so maybe we can go run together!
Nice times for this nasty @ss heat!!!
I ordered the AEM pulley kit today and will prob get the v-afc shortly...I gotta find someplace with a dyno...
VTECH got his v-afc done in Buford, GA and my dad retired in Cumming (like 20 miles away), so I suppose I could get it done up there on a quick weekend trip. A $150 an hours sounds awfully steep, though...I gotta start pricing/researching the install and testing...

Very nice time. Now I don't feel as bad running 14.7 with Comptech headers, exhaust, and Injen CAI.

I did run with less than 1/4 tank, but I didn't take out the spare or anything else. I'm looking for times that could reasonably be done by the car at any time.

Coming to OTown? Let me know when and we'll set up a time - maybe we can do a mini-meet at the track. I don't know about the v-afc, man. That's a sure fire warranty killer. But I'd sure like to hear how it affects your car on the dyno run.

Don't bother with $5/gal 99 octane gas. Go to the auto parts store and check out the octane boosters. There are some that offer decent increases for less money. You'll get the same results and spend $5 extra on a whole tankfull.

You'll have fun. At night it's a little like accelerating full blast down a tunnel. All you can see is dark/black sky and the occasional street lights on the track.

As I wrote in the last response, maybe we can set up a mini meet when r10apple comes down.

I live here in Orlando and have never been to the track... a little apprehensive to be honest. I've never done anything like that (other than the Greeneway/Beeline on-ramps) but I would love to see the mods that you other Orlando TLers have.

A mini-meet would be cool- I missed the one at hooters on Kirkman a while back. I had to work!

I've got a SSM w/navi, tint and Comptech springs. I just got rear ended earlier this week. Not too serious though. I hope to be out of the POS Impala rental by this Friday!

No way! I'm basically from the Cumming area (well, the northern tip of Alpharetta..about 10 min from Cumming). Does your dad do much on the lake? Anyway, we'll have to get together sometime when you come home.

Oh btw, nice runs Fla-TLS. You should try throwing a bag of ice on the intake mani if you cant keep the hood up and just ditch it right before you run. That would help keep down on some heat soak.

If you're an on-ramp racer (like me ), then you'll love going to the track.

It's a bit of an adreneline rush where you don't have to worry about getting a ticket. Although the trap speed shows +/-95 MPH, the speed at the end of the track is at least 100. (Trap speed is the last +/-60 feet the track).

We'll have to set up a mini-meet!

I've seen that done, but I've always wondered what the real affect is. I've heard that it can yield a reduction of 1/2 second in the 1/4.

Perosnally, I'd like to keep it as real as possible (no ice), but given the wait times in line a little ice might not hurt.

Maybe 1/2 second on a heatsoaked turbo car. I throw a bit on my intake mani while I'm waiting to run. The turbo basically bakes everything under the hood if no air is moving through there and it heat soakes the hell out of the intake mani. For example, I just had to replace my vac lines at 40k miles and 3 years old b/c the things had become so brittle from the heat that they shattered like thin plastic when I put a bit of pressure on them on accident.

Anyway, while you are moving, air moving through the engine bay and intake mani helps keep things cool. Just sitting in a line will heat soak the system, so a little ice isn't really cheating.

I did use the Techron system cleaner with a half tank of gas this weekend as well as changed my oil...I've switched over from Mobil 1 Synthetic to Royal Purple...
I talked to some guys at three different shops with hot rods who advised that Royal Purple ran 20 to 40 degrees cooler and significantly effected the oil pressure level...The car seems to run smoother for sure, though I can't really tell any gains from the oil...
