Thumbs up Toyota sludge and Acura Trannies

My wife has a 1998 Avalon. We just got a letter from Toyota about the sludge problem and that they are extending the engine warranty for sludge problems to 80,000 miles. Unfortunately she has over 90,000 on it. But I make her change the oil every 4,000 miles so no problems at all.

Hey Honda/Acura do the right thing and extend the warranties on TL's transmissions to 80-100,000 miles. I've owned GM and Chrysler products and never changed the transmission oil at all. I keep my cars for about 90-105,000 miles. Never had a problem. In fact I never remeber my dad changing transmission oil in any of his GM cars either. No problems. Trannies should last forever!!

No I'm sure they have not extended the warranty. I just wanted to point out what Toyota has done when faced w/ a problem. I think Acura should admit a problem and do something about it before we all lose confidence in them.

Do the right thing Honda/Acura if your listening out there.

People who have encountered tranny problem should stick up together and seek help from consumer group. Without pressure from the proper channel Honda won't give a fuk about we all tiny consumer. We should demand for extended warr on just the tranny to 80K, that's not unreasonable at all.
