Torque converter disengage?

When I come to a red light and stop, about 10-15 seconds later it feels like I've been lightly tapped from behind. A friend speculates this is the torque converter disengaging, but I'm paranoid. Anyone else experience this?

every single TL/TL-S experiences this. people have theorized everything from transmission to alternators, to brakes as the cause, but i dont think neone know for sure. but it is found on every one of our acuras.

If you came to a stop with the torque converter "engaged" (locked) then the engine would stall. That would be the equivalent of stopping a car with a stick shift without putting your foot on the clutch to disengage the clutch.

I'm 99% sure that this problem is the A/C cycling. Every once in awhile it'll bring the revs up a little bit just enough to get you moving a little bit if you're not on the brakes hard enough. When this happens I notice the A/C cycling (making its standard noises) so I'm pretty sure this is it.

Back when it was still cold out and I didn't run the AC much I didnt' notice it. But now that it's summer I notice it more often.

This is actually a safety concern too. If someone is crossing in front of your car at a crosswalk and that happens you could bump into the person and knock them over if you're not careful. Usually when this happens in my car though I never move more than an inch...

I'm pretty sure it's AC related, though.

A/C... possibly

This morning I theorized the A/C and kept cycling it on and off, but no effect was exhibited. Maybe the pressure delta never got up high enough.

As for hitting someone... the car never actually MOVES, it just feels like it. In any case, I'm frightened at impulse functions in my car. I'll see what the svc dept. has to say and post back.

Thanks for the replies, BTW

I think the A/C does not kick on until you've had it on for several seconds to prevent rapid cycling. But yeah, my Accord has the same symptom too. Just step on those brakes tightly at stop lights.
