agreed with all of the above... that thing is a joke. I'd like to see a dyno by an independant source, otherwise I don't buy it for one second.....

Bogus, do a search on the board and you'll see the prior posts about tests by independants like Car & Driver and SCC that showed 0hp and 0mpg gains on the dyno and on a closed loop course. If anything it should decrease power since its an obstruction in your intake.

Funny years ago it sold for $19.99, the price of scrap tin cans picked up off of the side of the road must have tripled.

He comes from a distinguished family:
1) His Dad invented Fire Injectors
2) His sister developed the Pet Rock
3) His Uncle developed the Fuel Alignment Magnetizer to get the fuel molecules properly arranged (there actually have been such products).

They're just bogus products with false claims. They work in principle, but not in real life. I'm sure it provides some gains on some cars (otherwise they'd be in trouble), but it's so few and far between. Basically, it's something you'd see on an infomercial, like GS27.......

1999TL - you are not putting me on are you?

Fire Injectors were miracle spark plugs (like the Iridium nonsense) that were in the JC Whitney catalog for years and produced "15%" more power and all that bull. I tried to get my Dad to buy them for years - I think the name scared him

Pet Rock - sdomeone actually put a small, roundish, polished rock in a box, sold it as a pet. I ****younot.

Fuel Magnetizer - just as I described - it was an inline fuel gizmo claiming to align the gas molecules for optimum power - total nonsense.

And we analysed the Tornado, it is total BS, produced no power increase on any car we tested it on.

Plainly a piece of ****.

Can we move on from these tweak things. Next, next!

Road Rage, funny post. What about the ginsu knife? Do you know anyone that ever bought one of those knives? I always wondered if those were scams. What about Mr. Microphone! "Hey babe, I'll be back to pick you up later!"

If anyone wants a few laughs...

Here is the "magnetic gas device" link (no laughing gas required):

(ftc debunk link)

(magnets, magnet, everywhere...)

What is that about a sucker being born every day ????

These offerings are like cults -- they have a bit of truth to them (from some to little), then draw you in.

Tornado Fuel Saver "A lot of Hot Air"

Re the Tornado Fuel Saver, this was in an issue of Consumer Reports, captioned "A Lot of Hot Air"

"Put a Tornado under your hood!" exhorts the manufacturer of a $70 device that claims to improve your vehicle's power and mileage. The Tornado, a stainless-steel disc with stationary blades, fits inside the air-filter housing or air-intake hose. "Its air-flow dynamics create a swirling, fast-burn effect" and allows for more complete combustion, the ads say.

We tested the Tornado on a 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle and a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup. In our acceleration tests, the Ranger showed no improvement and the Beetle showed slightly worse performance with the Tornado. Fuel economy didn't improve in either vehicle.

OK... I'm closing this topic. There are two other Tornado topics, and this one is from Oct.... feel free to keep discussing this non-functional product in one of the other two topics....

edit - nevermind, I just saw that the other two topics were closed. Just wait for turbo777 or whatever his name is to come back with his research (which is still bogus b/c it's from his dad who he says is CEO of the company makes the Tornado). Personally I'd like to see him GIVE a tornado to a member, then pay for two dynos... one stock, one with the tornado installed. Then, and only then will I believe this product works. For now, I'll believe the hundreds that have proof it doesn't......
