Well I've done 175 Km/H with Team Imspire of Toronto. And they were going faster than me and we almost had that incident on HWY 7 North of Toronto (wink wink)...I don't think we even close to what the TL can really do.

i did 145 just a few days ago. i think its great that we have a top speed of that high, its just that it takes forever getting there. run out of room way too quick.

Headers get you there quicker. Do you have headers?

I know cause I got up to 147 mph without headers and it felt like years.

humm

Mine dies around 180 Km/h (110 mph) and finally crawlled up to 212 km/h (130 mph).

I see why they put the 5th gear in the 2000 version. There is too much difference in RPMs betwee 3rd and 4th in the 99 4 spped transmission.

There might be something wrong with mine.

Actually, the 99 4 speed tranny is pretty cool. I held out 3rd til ~122 mph. But after 3rd, it takes a while for it to climb past +140 mph.

yes i do. its sitting in my trunk. haha

yeah maybe i'll feel a slight difference if i do put the headers in, but all that does is accelerate me faster in third and fourth, but once i get passed 100 it wouldnt really matter, it'll still take me a while to climb passed 120.

i also drive an 03TL, that doesnt really do a big of a difference. just because of the 5th gear i dont think it effects it much. maybe a quicker acceleration through gears, but once 100mph comes around it feels the same. slow lagging to get to top speed.

and the Z.. HAHA im still cruising on the 4th gear at 130mph without trying. gotta love the power and the rear wheel acceleration. of course the cornering is like WHOA

in both cars you need to hold it in 3rd past 100. my 00 doesnt take long to hit 110 when i shift into 4th. once in 4th it slows down some (due to large gearing) but after 130 it goes quicker again

I think the last time my car was over 100 was like 2 monthes ago... and then it was only to like 120. I did 155mph that one night, saw God, and called it quits. Besides, I'm not ready to die, and I'm not ready for my car to die on me either. LOL

hmm.. never thought about that. i usually just let the shifting work itself when im doing that fast. let's see how much faster this helps me get to top speed.

Since you have a 99 TL, you can hold out 3rd gear til like ~122 mph like I did. Going pass 100 mph should be no problem. Only 4th gears takes a while.

230 KM/Hr (140 MPH) here. Car reaches 200 KM/HR then starts slowly climbing to 230 KM/HR on stock set up. Car is governed to 140 MPH, so anything above that is impossible unless they have reprogrammed the ECU in the computer. In that case, they have just voided their warranty for their car.

actually NO....you TL-S people can't go past 147.

i have a '99 (put up a thread too) and talked how i hit 153 (151~5000rpm 4th-gear). The speed was reached in 2.5-2.6miles...on stock sized Toyo's and some bolt ons. AND i still had power and room to keep accelerating...but there were cars up ahead
