Top Plate??

originally this was going to be my fiance's car but i ended up enjoying it to much and shes more a fan of cobalts dont ask why idk... anyways when she still like the car we were trying to make it a little more girly for her and painted the top plate of the motor, at least i think thats what its called. we painted it while it was still on the motor and after a year or so and the shitty paint job it is peeling and im not enjoying it, is this ok to take off my motor and sand/re-paint?

That's your intake manifold. Yes you can take it off, sand it down and re paint it, or even polish it. While your at it, you should clean out the EGR

Ok thank you i recently started liking the car more and more as i got on this website and want to start doing some serious work to make it perfect, my paint job is pretty shitty with clear coat peeling but id rather have a car that runs/sounds amazing than a car that doesnt run but looks good. Ill look at the DIY on cleaning the EGR thanks for the help!!

It`s rather easy take the cover off (10mm) take some brake cleaner to the cover and grab some newspaper to cover the throttle body when you spray down the rest or check out the DIY section.
