TL Tranmission
Now on my second replacement transmission and only 38,000 miles on my 2002 TL-S. I've been thinking of trading it in. Has anyone been able to receive a discount on purchasing a new 2004 TL or 2004 TSX from Acura given the tranmission problems we've had being an owner of an Acura. While Acura has given us the extended transmission warranty, these cars are now suffering substantial depreciation. My local Honda dealer only allowed me $15,995 for my 2002 TL-S with Factory Spoiler, in mint condition with (4) new tires as a trade against a new Pilot. Walked out. Acura should support us if we come back and buy another Acura having suffered the ramifications of owing the TLs with defective transmissions!!

'ill*tl ... wrong.
Lemon law is VERY specific in its requirements, state to state. Ordinarily, MOST cases that seemingly would qualify for lemon law DO NOT. You shall, however, fall under the umbrella of the Magnussen-Moss law -- a federal law instituted to protect those customers that were outside the lemon law criteria. Just because you had three tranny replacements doesn't necessarily mean ANYTHING to lemon law. It depends on time since purchase, how long it was in the shop, etc. I consider myself very knowledge about lemon law at this point.
I was getting $17,500 for my TL-S if I traded in w/ Acura on a new TL -- so i decided to fight Acura/honda and won my case. If you're willing to put in the time/energy, read my thread (currently on page one of this forum: Just filed w/ BBB...) and proceed confidently.
Acura/Honda is NOT your friend. They treated me rudely on the phone, and tried to belittle my efforts whenever they called prior to our settlement. Don't be so naive as to believe that a major car company values the individual customer -- it's all about the bigger forumla ...
