Tl-p => Tl-s?
Would it be possible to replace a TL-P engine with a TL-S engine?
Would there be any problems at all?
If i paid the dealer how much the TL-S engine costs, would it be just a swap?

i don't think you need to replace the engine...both cars have the same engines but the Type-S has this one extra part next to the air intake that generates the extra HP and Torque.....so you might want to ask how much that part cost instead.....

MRGTR16, your statement is false, their are both internal and external engine upgrades between the two engines, as well as completely different ECU's. Hey turbo, i think it would be cheaper for you to just sell your TL and get a TLS. Converting your TL to a TLS would be a headache to say the least, and try to find someone competant enough to even do it, plus do you want to pay out the azz for OEM parts from the TLS to do the swap. Trust me man, i think paying the difference between your TL and getting a TLS would be easier.

The aggressive performance of both 3.2TL engines is founded on our trademark Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC™) technology, which allows the same engine to excel at both low-end torque and high-end power. At lower rpm, the 24-valve V-6 engine of the 3.2TL accelerates confidently with torque that peaks at 216 lbs-ft @ 4700 rpm. As engine speeds increase, VTEC opens intake valves to increase lift for longer duration, facilitating the impressive 225-hp peak rating.
Every success is a challenge to do yourself one better.
So for the TL Type-S, we took the VTEC engine even further, enhancing airflow with low-restriction dual-outlet exhaust, a larger-diameter throttle body, and a dual-stage induction system. We raised the compression ratio, redline and VTEC activation threshold. And we fitted the heads with high-performance intake valves and camshafts. Thus the exhilarating TL Type-S was born, flaunting a broad 232 lbs-ft peak torque band that begins at just 3500 rpm, and peak output of 260 horsepower at 6100 rpm
. Both all-aluminum engines are quiet and smooth running, and designed to go 105,000 miles before their first scheduled tune-up.
Both engines use Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) to manage fuel delivery precisely for maximum engine efficiency, while the Direct Ignition System works to deliver more accurate and consistent spark timing under all operating conditions. A high-flow dual exhaust system in the Type-S is designed to improve engine “breathing,” for a boost in horsepower.

(no offense to 01+ owners, but maybe all of you should consider doing an 99-00 front end conversion

Are you going to keep this car forever?
If not you are better off trading it in for a Type S through a dealer.
You will more than likely NOT recover the money you dump into an engine swap.
On the other hand, I find the TLP adequately powered. Save your money for what this car really needs (ie. tire and suspension upgrades).
My $0.02

I would like to replace the throttle body,valves and other bits of stuff from the type s when I do a 3.5 conversion. I think it would be quite do-able as you could probably save a large sum of money scavenging ECU and other parts from wrecked type s's in junkyards.
I personally think the 01+ front end looks pretty ugly compared to the earlier models(99-00) but thats my opinion. Yeah I just think the headlights are a bit too large for the front on the newer models. When they come out with some good body kits for the type s that will probably change my mind...
