I am just wondering if there is any difference between the TL muffler, and the TL-S muffler

 

The Type-S and premium models share the same exhaust manifolds, but everything from that point back is different. The Type-S utilizes a "free flowing" A-pipe, catalytic converter, B-pipe (with resonator), and mufflers.

 

Type-S exhaust is free flowing by about 30%

 

can we just buy the free flowing A-pipe, catalytic converter and the B-pipe and change it with ours or is it more complicated than that

 

i thought that the tl exhausts were really cheap ones with decorative exhaust tips..

 

Well, I am pretty sure that other then the ugly tips, they are pretty different... at least that's what the Acura marketing guys trying to make us believe...

 

I will verify the hanger locations for both models, but I'm almost certain they are the same. I'll check into this tomorrow, and I'll post the part # and list price for each piece.

If you have headers, or are planning to install them, the A-pipe won't be needed because Comptech includes a piece that performs even better than the Type-S A-pipe.
