TL is dead but will come back to life soon

So last week my 02 TL-S motor took a shit on me at 178,000 hard miles. I debated getting a new car but for some reason i just couldnt part with the TL. I bought a motor with 57,000 miles on it for 450 and it will be put in the car next week while i am in Cali.

Looks like i get at least 100K+ more miles out of my ride.

not sure yet. my mechanic is going to tear the motor down once he gets it out to figure out exactly what happened. I was driving down the highway, heard what sound like a gunshot, motor died, lots of metal in the oil.

No idea but i will find out soon

If you are replacing the motor why not swap the tranny for an accord or odyssey tranny as well? Peace of mind and save some time, even if the current tranny shows no sign of slipping.

Dedicated "PM" is the key. No motor can withstand negligence. While the oil and coolant are no brainers, the T-belt requires servicing also. Usually a sick motor will give some warning signs before it "takes a shit" ! Good luck with the replacement motor and as suggested, you may want to have the tranny checked if you've run the car hard.

An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure !
