TL dash in Accord, keep the Stereo?

okay so i go on here for info often, ive got a 1999 accord coupe and im swapping a black 2003 base TL dash into my car, i already know they bolt in no problem.
but my question is, should i keep this bose stereo?
its the oem 6disc, looks like its in decent shape, but i dont have the code and id have to get an mp3 adapter and subwoofer output adapter if im gonna use it(so id have to put like $60 into it) I also have no idea what this bose box is that i found in the dash behind the stereo, im putting in the dash wiring from the tl as well, so i can plug in this box and the stereo no problem, i just dont know if this is an amplifier or what.
i currently have an average jvc single din, plays mp3 and such, display doesnt work but everything else does, i just need a $10 kit for it to fit in my car.
here's pics

thought id ask you guys because with the accord, the stock 6disc is ok but almost the same quality as an aftermarket stereo, accord had no bose option or any extra amplifiers so idk if acuras setups are junk or not

The system is decent in my opinion. I recently took out the stock radio and put in an aftermarket headunit with the existing BOSE system as I wanted Bluetooth

IMO its not bad.
But obviously you can get greater performance and other goodies like Bluetooth if you go aftermarket.

But is it worth the headache and hassle getting the right amp wiring and all that?

Up to you.

I am a pretty decent audiophile, and I have a full setup at home but I only cringe a little hearing the flat response from the stock Bose system lol

Depends if you want great audio or just get sound...
OEM Unit is like any other OEM Radio... Muffled Sound and Frequencies that would appeal to a deft bat..

Ya got your work cut out for yourself swapping dash's !!!

The "Bose" is above your average Accord system, but now's the time to make it the way ya want it.
If ya really get into your sound, go custom for the extra bucks.

I personally wouldn't waste my time with it. The Bose stereo in the tl is crap at best, and you will get better sound and radio options going aftermarket.

As for the unit behind it, its the eq.

The system is half way decent, especially by 2002's standards. To be honest, it does seem like more trouble than it's worth. I would just go with something after market. There are some decent amplifiers for interior speakers and not subwoofers.

On a side note, good luck with the Accord coupe. I was planning to buy one, but honestly couldn't find a 1998 - 2000 EX that I liked. The transmissions in those cars are just as notorious for failure as our TLs, if not worse.

Also I may add that the one sure fire thing that will make your music sound muuuuch better is higher bitrate songs. Most of my library is in FLAC(Free Lossless Audio Codec) but if you get at least 320kbps (not the shitty 128kbps you will get from DowloadEverythingHere.com) or AAC(Apple Audio Codec) it will make a muuuch bigger difference in your listening experience.

It wouldnt even say half way by 2002 standards as well. It was the exact same system created for the 99. Bose in general sucks. Ive heard 90s mini vans that sounded better.
