Tips on installing Sway bars myself???
Hey All,
I've decided to try and install my Comptech sway bars this weekend. I bought a 2 ton floor jack and a pair of 2 ton jack stands at Kmart for $35. I also picked up a 5mm hex for a 3/8 ratchet. I've read all the FAQ's, posts, etc about doing the install. I am looking for any other last minute tips or tricks to make this install easier? For example, should I try and losen the nut on the end link with a ratchet first, without putting anything into the hex bolt to hold it? Will that work? Which direction does the bolt, or hex bolt losen? Counterclockwise?? Also, I was thinking about starting with the rear, since it's easier, to get me familiar with the process, then tackle the front. What do you think? One last question....do I really need a torque wrench to tighten the bracket bolts to 28 ft lbs, or can I just tighten as much as I can??
Thanks....and wish me luck!!
