did they replace the timing belt pully and tensioner?
If not already done- seafoam it and new spark plugs- makes car like new

He didn't have to, they looked really good. Definitely did the sparkplugs at 120k and seafoamed twice through the tube that comes from the brake booster thing.

Wouldn't it have been best to replace those too while you're in there? Can you determine they'll last another 100K just by looking at them?

^ IMO, the $75 for the tensioner is a cheap insurance.

typically- not replacing the tensioners is suicide in 20-50k miles
A; they are old and critical!!
B; tension has been removed then more tension applied to those parts--not good for the springs inside

Replacement engine cost when tensioner fails and belt stops turning: you dont want to know~

Hey tlvet,

I did the same thing a while back. Didn't know to have the shop replace the tensioner and pulleys. I just finished replacing the engine.

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/timing-belt-melted-time-new-engine-737796/

How much did the valve adjustment cost? The shop I took it to was going to charge 4.8 hours of labor at $92/hr. I hope you got a better deal!

valve adjustment labor is a combined event when done at the 105 service
Some of the same parts are removed- otherwise its 4 hours by itself

iirc- its a about ~1.5 hours actual work to check and adjust- once you are at or inside the valve covers,,,then recheck and adjust as needed

You are sure right about the car feeling like new. Just had mine done with all new OEM parts + Valves. Big difference so they must have been off. Friens at a Chev dealer did the install and labor. Paid $500.00 with new OEM plugs and labor. I was qouted $1900.00at Acura w/parts so i think i saved about $1100.00 on all of it. I was in schock when he told me the price at Acura. Did the seafoam just before i dropped it off.

When I change timing belt, I alwasy change water pump, tensioner and idller pully, adjuster pully if exist etc..., all the accessory belts and also finsih adjsuting valve adjustment (since every things out any wasy to do this). This is agood insurance policy and good chance to make it another 100k miles.
