Time Bomb ticking when engine is off.

Im recently starting to hear this Time bomb like ticking sound almost everytime i turn my car off. What can be the problem? is something dripping onto something else causing that slow ticking sound? Can someone please shed some light on this, and please dont say i might have a time bomb under my car

Thanks

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust?? Some aftermarket exhausts have been known to ping.

yea i do, i have the magnaflows. hmmm, come to think of it, it might be, but it sounds like its comming from the engine bay area and not the rear. Does the pinging from the exhaust a good sign or a bad sign or a common thingie? thanks

A common pinging source is often from the B-pipe of an exhaust. For example, Comptech b-pipes for Integras were notorious for pinging until they fixed the problem.

Engine pinging is often the result of pre-ignition or detonation. Is your timing stock or is it advanced?

timing? hmm? well, everything performance wise is stock except for the aftermarket exhaust and intake. er? Would the installation of the exhaust be somewhat kinda bad? Well, regardless, i have to do my exhaust piping wen i get my headers

Yup, its normal

He said its the sound he hears AFTER turning the car off. Its not from detonation if the engine isnt running. Its just the hot metals contracting. Nothing to worry about.
